Wreathes Across America 2022: An Honor of a Lifetime

December 20, 2022

Michael Lovitt, an Army Veteran, and our Chief Carriers driver since October 2019 was chosen this year to take the Wreathes Across America 2022 Load to its destination. We are deeply appreciative of Michael for his service as both a trucker with us and in the military.

Earlier this month, Michael Lovitt from Chief Carriers set off on a special load from Columbia Falls, Maine. As an Army veteran and driver for Chief Carriers, he was chosen to be part of The Wreaths Across America program – transporting wreaths to their final location in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is truly an extraordinary honor that Michael has been given!

A Day of Remembrance

Every December, National Wreaths Across America Day serves as a day of remembrance to honor our nation’s heroes. In order to demonstrate respect, we organize wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and over two thousand other locations throughout the United States, overseas territories, and abroad.

It’s the most important load Chief Carriers will ever haul. It’s an honor for us! ~ Andrew Winkler, General Manager of Chief Carriers

Thanks to the efforts of professional truck drivers and companies like Chief Carriers, Wreaths Across America has been able to touch thousands of lives across the country. Through their fundraising initiatives for wreath sponsorships, they have connected with countless school groups, scouts, religious organizations, and civic associations.

By helping us reach our aim of respectfully honoring each hero, you will also be providing financial aid to the groups that support us. By supporting these organizations below, you are not only contributing to our mission but theirs as well. Show your respect for service members and help make a difference in their lives today!

Wreaths Across America would not be able to complete its mission of remembering, honoring, and teaching without the transportation industry. Veterans’ wreaths are transported by planes, trains, and livestock trailers – but it is trucks and their skilled drivers that carry the majority of our nation’s respect.

For many of the drivers, this truckload of fresh, balsam-fir wreaths is one of their most treasured jobs to carry out in their careers. Wreaths Across America celebrates this determination and commitment by showcasing it through the “Trucking Tributes” feature found on both online platforms as well as Wreaths Across America Radio.

Michael Lovitt is just one of the many professional drivers who make countless contributions to our nation. This December, an especially important month for those in the transportation industry due to supply chain issues, Wreaths Across America 2022 has united us all with one unified mission.

Andrew Winkler, General Manager of Chief Carriers, expressed his enthusiasm in a recent interview by declaring that the company feels “honored” to carry this load, considering it to be the most important they have ever taken on.

Winter’s wrath was no match for Michael Lovitt on National Wreaths Across America Day, December 16th, 2022, when he endured ten days of icy roads and inclement weather. Although delayed, Lovitt successfully delivered wreaths to North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND, and then to his final destination at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska.
