Chief Carriers earns BOSSLIFT & flight of a lifetime.
On behalf of Major General Rick Evans, Mandee Lade, and Andrew Winkler were invited to attend a special Kearney area employer orientation flight on a Chinook helicopter.
Mandee Lade and Chief Carriers were recognized with the Patriot Award earlier this year in January 2022, which has resulted in this distinguished BOSSLIFT flight invitation.
A truck driver & member of the Illinois National Guard nominated Mandee Lade, a truck driving recruiter for Chief Carriers, for the Patriot Award. This distinction, as well as other forms of appreciation, recognizes civilian employers to thank them for their support to the Guards and Reserves.
What is The Patriot Award?
An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the Spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for the support provided directly to the nominating Service member and their Family.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for Families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
Mandee Lade and Chief Carriers recognize the value of employing veterans and active members of the National Guard and Reserves.
What is The ESGR?
ESGR, a Department of Defense office, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 3,000 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states.
As a recipient of the Patriot Award, the ESGR rewarded Mandee Lade and Andrew Winkler, General Manager of Chief Carriers, with a special BOSSLIFT on a Chinook helicopter.
Flight Gives a Unique Perspective
Bosslifts transport employers, like Chief Carriers, to military training sites where they observe Reserve members on duty as part of the Total Force.
The Bosslift not only recognizes the recipients of the Patriot Award but provides the employer a better understanding of what their Reservists do when they are away from their civilian occupation for duty with their military units.
The CH-47 Chinook has the capacity to carry up to 55 troops.
Lade and Winkler were given the opportunity to ride in a Boeing CH-47 Chinook alongside other employers in the Kearney area. The Chinook is primarily used for transporting troops, and supplies, and evacuating casualties from battlefields. It has the capacity to carry up to 55 troops or 10 tonnes of cargo simultaneously.
What’s It Like Like To Fly In A Chinook
With a flight speed of 196 miles per hour, the Chinook can quickly transport cargo and troops to their destination. At 52 feet long and with rotors that extend 98 feet, the helicopter is an impressive sight both in size and capability.
“The adventure of a lifetime.” ~ Mandee Lade, Driver Recruiter for Chief Carriers
Although the Chinook is loud, both Lade and Winkler called it an adventure of a lifetime. They were able to gain a greater understanding and unique perspective into Reservists’ lives when they are away from driving trucks to serve with their military units.
Being recognized for the Patriot Award & the BOSSLIFT will have a long-lasting impact on Lade, Winkler, and the entire Chief Carriers trucking company.
Truck Driving Jobs For The Military
Mandee Lade, as a truck driver recruiter for Chief Carriers, understands just how important military experience is. She understands that veterans have proven track records of higher performance ratings and leadership experience in highly demanding situations that are far greater than those seen in typical trucking jobs.
Veterans with prior military expertise are encouraged to apply for employment with Chief Carriers. And once employed, these trucker drivers will have a support system at Chief Carriers.
